This June Bank Holiday weekend, the Finbar Hoban Presents tribute series will see Europe’s best AC/DC tribute, 'Hells Bells', headline the Garbo’s venue on June 4.
This is followed on June 5 by Led Zeppelin tribute act, 'No Stairway', meaning an action packed weekend of rock that is not to be missed.
Formed in 1996 and hailing from Bristol, Hells Bells has evolved into perhaps the most well-known and professional AC/DC tribute band in the United Kingdom. Touring the length and breadth of Britain and Ireland for more than 18 years, playing the music of the legendary AC/DC, Hells Bells have built up a loyal following of fans and continue to do so wherever they play.
The band play material from both the Bon Scott and Brian Johnson eras, covering four decades of classic no-nonsense, foot stomping, rock and roll. The camaraderie of all five musicians is second to none and the excitement and passion shines through their music.
Led Zeppelin tribute, No Stairway, comprises four musicians with a love of Led Zeppelin who were brought together through Galway's Access Music Project. In summer 2013, the group started working on Led Zeppelin's back catalogue with the aim of making a show influenced by their studio albums and epic live performances.
The band is made up of Ronan O'Malley on guitar, Shane O'Malley on bass/keys/backing vocals, Bill Dunne on drums/backing vocals, and Galway singer/songwriter, Steven Sharpe, on lead vocals.
Hells Bells will perform at Garbo's on June 4 with No Stairway taking to the stage on June 5. Tickets for Garbo's rock weekender will go on sale shortly and will be available through usual outlets in Castlebar, including Downtown Records and Hogs Heaven Bar.
