This week the chairman and board of Ireland West Airport welcomed the announcement by the Taoiseach that Fine Gael is adding an additional €10m to the regional airport’s capital expenditure scheme in their next programme for government.
A statement, issued on behalf of the board and chairman, said: "This additional funding in the Fine Gael manifesto will provide the mechanism for Ireland West Airport to access funding at a 90 per cent level and commence critical capital programmes at the airport including the apron upgrade and main runway overlay. The airport also notes Fine Gael’s commitment going forward to ensuring these capital investment programmes are completed at the 90 per cent funding level and looks forward to progressing with these projects as soon as possible."
