Find your voice with JCI Mayo

Public speaking is one of people's biggest fears, but never fear, JCI Mayo is here to help. Whether you have a presentation coming up, need help with pitching for your business, are delivering a seminar or workshop, or are entering a public speaking competition; this public speaking event will give you practical tips, training, and expert advice.

JCI Mayo will host a public speaking event on Wednesday February 24 in the GMIT Innovation Hubs, Castlebar, at 7pm with the trainer for the evening being Máire Garvey. Ms Garvey is an excellent trainer and a highly successful member of Westport Toastmasters Club. A resident of Westport, she has been an active public speaker for most of her adult life and is passionate about helping people of all walks of life overcome the innate fear of public speaking.

Ms Garvey's public speaking and debating career actually started in what was then Junior Chamber Ireland, way back in the mists of time, when she was a member of the Dun Laoghaire chapter in Dublin, which was then at the height of its success. During that time, she was awarded Outstanding Young Member of the Year. In career terms, she has worked primarily in the areas of marketing and fundraising, latterly establishing the Dip in the Nip in 2009, Ireland’s (and the world’s! ) first skinny dip for cancer charities. She is delighted to have this opportunity to re-connect with JCI, and it promises to be an exciting night.

So if you battle with speaking in front of a crowd, have a speech coming up, want to win more business when pitching or simply want to gain confidence when speaking, JCI Mayo members would be delighted if you would join them on Wednesday February 24 in GMIT Innovation Hubs, Castlebar, at 7pm, tickets are €10.
