The Addams Family are coming to Ballinrobe

The stage is set for America’s most dysfunctional family to come to town, and no, it's not the Kardashians! This year Ballinrobe Musical Society is proud to present The Addams Family.

The hit musical comedy kicks off on Valentine’s Day, Sunday February 14, with a 3pm matinee show and an 8pm show. With catchy tunes by Andrew Lippa and hilarious lines that will have audiences of all ages laughing in their seats, this show is sure to be a crowd pleaser and is expected to be a sell out. Developing on last year’s success with All Shook Up the society decided to choose another comedy show suited to a modern audience looking for a laugh, but with the same big musical numbers.

This year the society want to get the audience involved in their matinee show and are welcoming children (of all ages ) to don their best fancy dress costume with the chance of winning a prize. “It’s a really funny show and it’s a great chance for all the family to have an afternoon of fantastic entertainment right on their doorstep,” said society chairman Des Treacy.

Co directors Liam Butler and Aoife McClafferty, along with musical director Finola Higgins, have been poring over scripts and musical numbers since last year to ensure another West End quality show. Paired with the phenomenal work of stage manager John O’Shea and his committed team of set designers, audiences will once again be treated to a feast of visual effects at Ballinrobe Community School.

Society stalwart and very talented actor Michael Coen takes the role of passionate husband Gomez Addams and Coen is relishing the opportunity to exercise his signature comedic acting abilities. Suzanne Garvey, on loan from her native Tuam, joins the society for the second year and has come into her own playing the brilliantly dry humoured Morticia.

With one of the strongest lineups of principle roles the society has ever seen, this year is set to be one of the best shows to be staged in Ballinrobe and is sure to be a sell out.
