Beezneez bring hit comedy Turning Mammy back to Wesport

When Beezneez Theatre Company premiered John McDwyer’s sparkling new comedy, Turning Mammy, last autumn the production was greeted with standing ovations from full houses throughout Ireland.

As a result, it was inevitable that the company would yield to demand and offer another opportunity for patrons to savour the show. Beezneex are taking the opportunity to pay their first visit to Town Hall Theatre, Westport, when they perform Turning Mammy on Wednesday, February 3, at 8pm.

Audiences have been enchanted by this tale of the sisters, Martha and Mary, whose lives revolve around searches; one for her baby which was given up for adoption, and the other for love in the shape of her neighbour, Ambrose. Unfortunately, Ambrose is fully committed to the care of his mother and appears to be besotted by his strange English neighbour, Dorothy.

Turning Mammy has a rich vein of humour running through it and is peppered with laugh out loud lines and funny situations. It is this humour, used to sweeten the bitter pill, which has made the play such a major hit on its first tour.

The author directs Eileen Murphy (Thy Will be Done ) Valerie Traynor (Don’t Dress for Dinner ) and well-known south Sligo actor Peadar Conway, who makes a stunning Beezneez debut in a production that fits easily into the unmissable category.

There is already significant box office interest in this production and booking is advised. Tickets can be purchased from the Town Hall Theatre, from Westport box office on (098 ) 28459 or online at www.westporttheatre.com
