The TY students in St Gerald’s College, Castlebar, in association with St Joseph’s Secondary School, will present the comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors in the TF Royal Theatre from Tuesday February 9 to Thursday February 11 at 8pm each evening.
The show tells the story of Seymour (Cormac Gibbons ), an orphan and a nerd, who is taken in and given a job by Mr Mushnik (Daniel Plaster ), the owner of a rundown florist shop in the seedy part of town, Skid Row. Seymour spends his time doing menial tasks and dreaming of the shop assistant Audrey (Sarah Moran ). Sadly for him, Audrey is dating a psychotic dentist named Orin (Conal Rice ). One day, just after an eclipse of the sun, Seymour discovers a strange plant. He buys it and names it Audrey II (Paul McDermott ). While caring for Audrey II, Seymour discovers the plant's rather unique appetite. It lives off blood! The plant grows and grows, as does Seymour's infatuation for Audrey. Will the plant take over the world or can they stop him in time?
Join the students from St Gerald's and St Joseph's to find out. This production has been Produced and Directed by Vivienne Moran and co-ordinated by musical director Jennifer Hiney. It involves more than 50 students from transition year from the two schools and promises great entertainment for audiences each night.
