Darren Coen played the captain’s part on Sunday in Breffni Park in Cavan scoring eight points as Hollymount-Carramore booked their place in the All Ireland intermediate club final in Croke Park.
The south Mayo men led from pillar to post in this encounter going in leading by three points at the break on a score of 0-7 to 0-4, with Coen scoring five points in the opening half and hour and Kevin Ferrick bagging the other two.
The second half was more of the same with Coen scoring three more points to bring his personal tally to eight, with Conor Keane, Stephen Coen, Ian Costello, Kevin Feerick and Keelan McNamara all chipping in with a point each to book their place in Croke Park.
Standing in their way will be St Mary’s of Cahirciveen who saw off the challenge of Meath champions Ratoath by 2-20 to 1-5 in the other semi-final.
