At the monthly meeting of Mayo County Council held on Monday, Independent Westport based councillor Christy Hyland asked the council's Chief Executive Peter Hynes, Chief Executive, Peter Hynes for an up to date position with regards to Westport House following recent reports in the national media over the future of the estate.
The cheif executive responded that the council was still in negocations with the relevant Government departments and NAMA in relation to the historic estate, but he was not in a position at the moment to issue a statement on it. However he said he was hopeful to be in a position to make one before the next meeting of the council in three weeks' time.
