Pádraig Ó Loingsigh: champion and scion of Edward Bunting

This Westport Civic Trust lecture will be given by Dr Úna Quinn and will be on Tuesday, January 19 at 8pm in the Westport Coast Hotel. Dr Quinn will talk about the little known contribution of Pádraig Ó Loingsigh to the Bunting Collection of traditional Irish music, that even today is not given the recognition it deserves. His greatest legacy, however, is the large collection of traditional music of Connacht that he collected in the late 18th century, and Dr Quinn will give a detailed account of his life and the travails he experienced in assembling this material.
