Rehearsals have stepped up a gear this week in preparation for Castlebar Pantomime’s production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, with just one month to go to show time. Cast and crew are getting really excited about the upcoming show, which this year is being held in Breaffy Arena from Thursday January 7 to Sunday January 10.
This is a huge move for the pantomime and the sense of the unknown is something that the committee and production team are excited about. “It’s a really big step for us and a bit scary, if we are honest, but it also gives us a chance to try new things and mix it up a little,” said the directors Sharon Lavelle and Antoinette Starken.
One of the big questions and talking points about the show is who exactly is playing the part of Goldilocks. The producers, directors and cast and crew are keeping that a secret until the show opens. People will just have to speculate for now. The panto has a fabulous cast this year with familiar names like James Murray, Garry Wynne, Natasha Crouch, Mairead McDonnell, Carmel Fanning Ryan, Pauline Leonard, and brilliant new-comers Aoife Lally, Clodagh Healy, Lauren Hastings, Edward Scott, Sean Tobin, Des Grealis, Brian Cawley, and Mark Calvey. Put all those together with the junior, intermediate and senior chorus and it promises to be one hell of a show. With John Flatley as musical director, Jason Guthrie as choreographer, and the dynamic duo of Sharon Lavelle and Antoinette Starken returning as directors, Goldilocks and the Three Bears promises to be another brilliant fun filled, laugh out loud, entertaining family show.
If you would like to go along and join in the fun, tickets are now on sale through the Pantomime Facebook page www.facebook.com/castlebar pantomime and the website www.castlebarpanto.com, and can also be purchased in Castlebar Credit Union, Market Square, Castlebar.
