Mayo retailers continue to be at the forefront of driving customer excellence in Ireland with two of the county’s leading home and garden stores recognised at the Retail Excellence Ireland Awards 2016 in association with Barclaycard. Following hundreds of entries Retail Excellence Ireland awarded the best in class winners in key sector groups with Mayo retailers cleaning up, including Horkans Garden and Lifestyle Centre, Castlebar, winning Best National Garden Centre Store 2016 and Homeland, Swinford, winning Best DIY and Agri Store 2016.
With many in the retail sector in Mayo quietly confident of the future, the wins in the Retail Excellence Awards serve to reaffirm Mayo retailers as top providers of customer service and their commitment to delivering the best shopping experience possible. David Fitzsimons, CEO, Retail Excellence Ireland, said: "Mayo retailers across all sectors are at the fore of delivering superb service with state of the art premises. I want to commend all of the retailers who entered this year’s awards. The highest standard of service, customer engagement, display and levels of investment among Irish retailers made choosing this year’s winners particularly difficult. That said, to see two of Mayo’s finest retailers come out on top is a great achievement for the county."
The awards were co-presented on Saturday evening last by RTE’s Hector Ó hEochagáin and sports presenter Evanne Ni Chuilinn. The sell-out event was attended by more than 500 representatives of the retail industry in Ireland. The awards ceremony is the biggest event in the Irish retail industry calendar.
