The award-winning Museum of Country Life at Turlough House is in its 15th year and is home to the National Folklife Collection which represents traditional life in Ireland up to fairly recent times and it saw almost 100,000 visitors through it's doors this year so far. Set in the grounds of Turlough Park, outside Castlebar.
The current exhibition, ‘Migrant Women – Shared Experiences’ contrasts the experiences of young female Irish migrants to New York in the late 19th / early 20th century with that of women from around the world to Ireland in the late 20th / early 21st century. A new display, ‘Cycling the Country’ opened earlier in the year to coincide with the extension of the Great Western Greenway from Castlebar to the Museum.”
