Ó Cuív meets Belmullet GAA officers

Éamon Ó Cuív, Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, visited Belmullet on Friday last to launch the three-day Island Culture and Arts Programme.

The Minister, accompanied by Beverley Flynn TD, welcomed performers from Uist in Scotland and the Isle of Man, together with participants from every island off the west coast.

During the visit Deputy Flynn arranged for the Minister to meet a deputation from Belmullet GAA Club in connection with a major project for the club.

“The Minister was impressed with the club’s presentation and I am sure that the project will be furthered considerably as a result of today’s meeting,” said Dep Flynn.

The final ceremony of the day was the launch by the Minister of the brief for the new building for the Belmullet Branch of the Irish Wheelchair Association.

The centre, at Logmore, will be a resource and cultural centre and will meet the highest standards of design and construction.
