Things could not have gott off to any better of a start for the Heffernan Park men. They have two wins from two, including a dramatic opening day win over local rivals Westport in round one. They backed that up with a 15 point win against Buccaneers in round two and picked up a bonus point on the way. On Sunday they will head to Monastery Field to face the hosts who have one win and one loss in their column so far this season. They opened the season in outstanding form with a 32-0 win over Corinthians, before Ballinasloe saw them off by 14 points in round two. This will be another big test for the north Mayo men, but one they are well capable of coming through.

Westport v Buccaneers

The Bulls were beaten in round one by their Mayo rivals at the end of an epic clash that finished 24-23 in favour of the north Mayo men. The bounced straight back with a bonus point win the next time out when they headed east to Monivea where they won 37-17. That was Westport's first win in that venue for a decade and they will be looking to make it two from three on Sunday when Buccaneers come visiting. Last year's Junior 1B winners have the same record as the Bulls, they won their first game against Ballinasloe 18-11 before Ballina saw them off by 15 points in Heffernan Park in round two. A second win is on the bounce is on the cards for the home side in this one.

Castlebar v Loughrea

Castlebar are exactly where they want to be at the end of the season right now, sitting on top of the table. The county town outfit have a 100 per cent record with two wins from two. After a tough opening day win over Creggs at home where they had three points to spare under the lights at home, they picked up their second win in style with a 30-15 win over OLBC in Galway, where Nigel Byrne touched down for one try and Richard Sweeney getting in for two. Loughrea come to town with two losses from two to their name, and Castlebar will be expecting to make it three from three this weekend.

OLBC v Ballyhaunis

It has not been a good start to the season for the Doctors Road outfit, who are still looking for their first win of the season, having gone down heavily to NUIG on the road in round one and losing narrowly to Sligo at home a fortnight ago. Ballyhaunis have just one point on the board coming in the form of a losing bonus point after their recent narrow loss. On Sunday they will hit the road again looking to be the second Mayo side to pick up a win over OLBC in Galway after Castlebar had 15 points to spare in round two. A win is needed by Ballyhaunis to kick start their season.

Claremorris v Ballinrobe

Now here's a little bit of history, with the first south Mayo league derby taking place in Claremorris when they host Ballinrobe on Sunday afternoon. Both teams have one win each to their name, but Ballinrobe have only played one game so they are coming in with a 100 per cent record following their 21-9 win over Corrib two weeks ago. For Claremorris, after the high of their 26-15 win over Corinthians in round one, they were bounced back to earth with a serious blow when Dunmore ran out 57-0 winners in Claremorris. Ballinrobe are looking to move back up the divisions and they will not be showing any mercy to their new south Mayo competition.
