Daithi O Sé to judge Ladies’ Day at the Ballinrobe Races

Ballinrobe Racecourse is calling on the ladies of County Mayo to get their hats on and race cards ready for the Ballinrobe Races, which take place on Monday August 11. TV presenter Daithi O Sé, who has just wrapped up filming on TG4’s Highway 61, will be on hand to judge the Best Dressed Lady Competition and will have his binoculars polished to scout out the most eye-catching outfits.

The winner of this year’s Best Dressed Lady Competition will win €2,000 worth of Newbridge silverware courtesy of sponsors Martin Murphy Newsagent and Jeweller. All ten fashion finalists picked from the glamorous crowd by Daithi will receive a goody bag including a bottle of Jacob’s Creek sparkling rosé.

Daithi is no stranger to competition himself, he was judged sexiest TV presenter two years in a row by TV Now Magazine. He is looking forward to being a judge on the day and said: “I am a big racing fan and attended the Ballinrobe Races last year in an unofficial capacity and am delighted that I have been promoted to Best Dressed Lady Judge this year. I have judged a few ladies’ day competitions so I think I’m an expert in women’s fashion now and am looking for an outfit that’s unique - so ladies take note.”

John Flannelly, manager of Ballinrobe Racecourse, is delighted that Daithi is on board and is looking forward to large crowds on the day. “When I told the local ladies that Daithi would be judging the Best Dressed Lady competition I got a great reaction – Daithi seems to be a big hit with the women of Mayo. I hope that good weather will prevail and we’re looking forward to some good-quality racing too.”

The first race is off at 5.40pm at Ballinrobe where highlights include the Irish Stallion Farms EBF race and the John MacMahon Handicap Steeplechase.

Admission for adults is €15, senior citizens and students €10 and free entry for children under 14. For more details on Ballinrobe log onto www.goracing.ie or call Ballinrobe Racecourse on 094 954 1811.
