Looking after Lidl hearts in Mayo

As part of its ongoing commitment to a happy and healthy workplace, Lidl Ireland brought one of Ireland’s largest health and wellness programmes, in partnership with Laya healthcare, to Lidl, Barcastle Industrial Estate, Lawn Rd, Castlebar, Mayo.

Lidl and Laya healthcare teamed up with RTÉ presenter Michael Lyster to promote the campaign. Michael himself knows the importance of heart screening following a serious heart attack earlier this year. The Lidl Ireland health and wellness programme is Ireland’s largest corporate cardiac screening programme.

The HeartBeat mobile cardiac screening service provided by Laya healthcare kick started in August. A purpose-built Lidl double decker bus will serve 143 Lidl stores, warehouses and regional offices at 61 locations across the country over a three-month period screening the 3,200 members of the Lidl team. Part of Lidl Ireland’s health and wellness programme, Lidl employees book their appointment online, and embark on the custom-built Lidl bus for the screening. The screening involves a personal and family history questionnaire, a physical examination with a physician, a full ECG together with the analysis of the medical data and final reporting.
