Inver National School wins prize for Game Playing Day

Inver National School in Ballina has won the Mayo county prize for Game Playing Day by showing that its pupils had the most fun playing board games on the day.

The school has won €200 towards the funds they raised for their school on Game Playing Day last October, when the children were asked to bring €2 into school along with their favourite board game to play during class.

Now in its sixth year, Game Playing Day has to date raised more than €420,000 for children’s charities. This was the first year that schools were given the opportunity to raise money for either their school or a charity of their choice. Game Playing Day is the initiative of toys and games company Hasbro which pledged a hamper of six board games, chosen from a selection of top MB and Parker games, free for every school that took part.
