Mayo Stroke Support Group
The Mayo Stroke Support Group in association with Croí, the West of Ireland Cardiac Foundation will hold its next meeting on Thursday, September 24 in the Castlebar Tennis Club between from 11.30am to 1pm. This support group is for adults living with the experience of stroke and their families/carers and friends. It aims to facilitate social activities, provide information, raise awareness and offer support and practical advice on living with stroke. Admission is free of charge. Run, Walk and Roll in Ballina
The 25th annual Run, Walk and Roll (formerly the Terry Fox run ) in aid of cancer research, will take place on Sunday, October 11 at 12. The event will start and finish at the Ballina Athletics Track and entry for the event is only €10 per person or €15 for families. Each competitor will receive a specially designed t-shirt and a one-off medal. Ballinrobe Musical auditions
The multi-award winning Ballinrobe Musical Society will be holding auditions next week for its upcoming production of The Addams Family, which will be performed in 2016. Order of Malta Cadets Enrollment
Castlebar Order of Malta is holding a cadet enrollment evening for current and new cadets on Saturday, September 19 at 5pm at the Order of Malta HQ on Pavilion Road. Climb Croagh Patrick for Aware
Sloyan's Bar, Linenhall Street, Castlebar, is looking for participants to take part in its Croagh Patrick Challenge, in aid of Aware, which helps people affected by depression and anxiety and their families. Nephin Theatre Group tour Mayo
The Nephin Theatre Group will be touring Mayo in the coming weeks with its production of FR254, written by group director Martin Donohoe. They will be preforming the play in the Ballina Arts Centre on September 17 and 18, in Aras Inis Gluaire in Belmullet on October 2, and in the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on October 7.
Computers for farm families
Mayo North East, in conjunction with The Men’s Community Initiative, will run a course for farming families in the coming weeks. It will be held at Áras Inis Gluire over five nights for two hours each night and is funded under the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme. The next meeting of the Mayo Stoma Support Group will take place on September 15 at 7pm in Rock Rose House, Castlebar. There will be a guest speaker in attendance and new members are welcome.
September Eastern Rite Liturgy
On Sunday September 13 an Eastern Liturgy Mass will take place at 2.30pm in the Church of the Holy Rosary in Castlebar. The Liturgy will celebrate the Eve of the Most Holy Feast of the Elevation of the Most Holy And Life Giving Cross. During Mass there will be Novena prayers to Saint Sharabel and anointing with holy oil from the saint's tomb for all present. For more information call (087 ) 654738.

A fashion show in aid of the Roisin Tansey Trust Fund, will take place on Saturday, September 12. The fashion show will be hosted in the showroom of JJ Burke Car Sales Ballinrobe. Anger management course
Knock Counselling Service is running its popular two-day anger management programme on Saturday October 3 and Sunday October 4. The 'Temper Your Anger' programme teaches participants how to control their anger and stress levels by using cutting-edge techniques, combined with experiential learning. Host a coffee morning/evening for your friends, family, work colleagues, etc, on National Coffee Morning for Hospice, Thursday September 17, and help your local hospice/palliative care team to continue to care for those who are ill in your community. Family carers group
Caring For Carers Ireland plans to establish a carers group in Achill covering Mulranny, Currane, Ballycroy, and Newport areas. The purpose of establishing a carers group is to provide a service to family carers. Training on homecare and computer skills can be provided together with organising talks on the various issues that family carers identify.
