The people of Westport will have a last chance to see some of the rarest artefacts of 1798 in Mayo County Library’s exhibition In Humbert's Footsteps, which is open in the local library and is free to all.
The exhibition, which was created to commemorate the 210th anniversary of the 1798 rebellion, contains some 40 unique items, mostly family heirlooms and most of which have never been exhibited before. Many of these items have been generously loaned to the library by local private owners and they will be returned to safe keeping after the exhibition finishes in Westport.
The exhibition has been on show since September in Castlebar, Ballina, and Charlestown and has been visited by more than 3,000 people. It will also be featured on RTE’s Nationwide programme in the near future.
