If you have a passion for fashion photography, then this one might be for you.
The camera experts at Canon have just launched a new fashion photography competition for young snappers and the company is calling on budding fashion professionals in Mayo to give it a shot.
The competition is being organised in conjunction with Dublin Fashion Festival, which runs from September 7 to 13.
It is open to all young photographers from around Ireland and aims to help amateur shutterbugs gain experience and exposure in the fashion industry.
The winning photographer will receive €500 worth of Canon products and a money-can’t-buy experience at London Fashion Weekend in September.
The winner will be flown to London, courtesy of Canon Ireland, where they will have the chance to photograph a fashion show featuring some of the best known labels and models in the fashion industry.
An expert judging panel will decide the finalists and the winner will then be announced at a special event on September 9 at Bank of Ireland, College Green, Dublin.
The judging panel includes top fashion photographer, Barry McCall, fashion editor of the Irish Independent, Bairbre Power, and marketing manager of Canon Ireland, Jonothan Sultan.
Interested photographers in Mayo should submit up to five examples of their work via the Dublin Fashion Festival website at www.dff.ie
All photographs submitted for judging must be previously unpublished works, and the photographer must not have received payment for the work.
The closing date for entries is 5pm on Thursday, August 20.
Jonothan Sultan, marketing manager, Canon Ireland, said they are really excited to launch the inaugural Canon Fashion Photographer of the Year competition.
"As Ireland’s number one imaging brand, we are passionate about educating the next generation of young photographers and this competition will provide budding photographers from all over Ireland with the opportunity to showcase their work to some of Ireland’s leading industry figures," he stated.
