Take the ferry from Blacksod to Achill

Geraghty Charters connect Blacksod (An Fód Dubh ) and The Great Western Greenway in only 30 minutes. Every Friday the Noirín Bán will depart the pier at Blacksod at 10.30am sharp and arrive in Doogort, Achill Island at 11am (subject to weather ). This service offers people the opportunity to discover Achill Island on foot, by bicycle, or even by pony and trap, which is available for hire once you get there. Spend the day discovering all Achill has to offer. Noirín Bán will return to Blacksod leaving Doogort at 5.00pm sharp arriving at 5.30pm.

The Noirín Bán also offers visitors to Achill the opportunity to discover Blacksod (An Fód Dubh ) and the Mullet Peninsula departing Doogort 11.30am sharp, arriving at the pier at 12 noon. Spend the day discovering Deirbhile Loop the 10km walking and cycling route with seven points of interest including Blacksod Bay Emigration Project, Deirbhile Temple, and the blessed well. It will return to Achill departing Blacksod pier at 4pm sharp, arriving in Achill for 4.30pm. A local registered tour company, Wild Atlantic Tours, will meet the boat and anyone wishing to avail of a guided tour can do so at an extra cost. Agatha Hurst is a highly regarded tour guide in the area and has featured on several TV programmes regarding local history and folklore.
