A new leisure and tourism business is launching at Lough Lannagh Holiday Village in Castlebar to encourage more people to enjoy the town's natural attractions.
Bikes and Boards is an initiative by local men Brian Cawley and Fergus Walshe which aims to capitalise on the recently opened Greenway between Lough Lannagh and Turlough.
The tourism entrepreneurs are joining forces with Jarlath McHale of Mayo Adventure Experience to bring bike and watersports equipment hire to Lough Lannagh.
The three have all been involved in the Love Castlebar campaign, a voluntary organisation which promotes the county town as a great place in which to live and visit, and say their new business venture will help to promote tourism in Castlebar.
The company is opening for business next Friday, July 24.
There will be a wide range of equipment for hire, including adult Hybrids, children's bikes, and tow-along trailers for tots.
Mr Walshe said Bikes and Boards is passionate about Castlebar and the possibility of developing a "really strong tourism product for locals and visitors to enjoy".
"We have invested in the best equipment to provide a brilliant experience for our customers,” he said. "Now, the whole family can discover the Greenway together."
Bikes and Boards is hosting a launch party at 7pm at Lough Lannagh Holiday Village on Friday next with drinks, light refreshments, music, and entertainment.
