Ballyglass v Ballyheane
Saturday, July 11 at 7pm
Venue: Michael Keaveney Park
Ballyglass fell to their second defeat of the season last weekend against league leaders Ballina Town, and slipped to fourth place in the table, but they have a game in hand on those in front of them. Tomorrow evening they will face another tough examination when Ballyheane make the short trip to Keaveney Park. Ballyheane come into this game after picking up four points in four, thanks to a win over Castlebar Celtic and a draw with Manulla over last weekend. A win on Saturday evening would see them leapfrog Ballyglass in the table, but that's easier said than done.
Straide and Foxford United v Ballina Town
Saturday, July 11 at 7pm
Venue: Green Road
It has been a tough season so far for Straide and Foxford and it doesn't look like it's going to get any easier any time soon. Following on from their 5-1 defeat at the hands of Westport United last weekend, the league leaders Ballina Town will visit Green Road on Saturday evening. Ballina edged their way back to the top of the table last weekend with a 2-1 win at home to fellow high flyers Ballyglass, thanks to goals from Stephen Moyles and Brendan Lavelle. It would be a major turn-up for the books if the home side could take anything out of this Moyside derby.
Conn Rangers v Westport United
Saturday, July 11 at 7pm
Venue: Mount Falcon
What a difference a few weeks can make as Conn Rangers have put together two wins on the bounce over the past two weekends, and in the process have pulled themselves out of the relegation zone. Last weekend they put seven past Charlestown Athletic on the road. But even with that confidence boosting win under their belts, they'll be doing very well to make it three wins in a row when league champions Westport United come calling to north Mayo on Saturday evening. John Brennan's side were comfortable 5-1 winners over S&F last time out and will be confident of bringing home three points again from this one.
Iorras Aontaithe v Charlestown Athletic
Sunday, July 12 at 2.30pm
Venue: Carnenash
The hosts in this one will have two games in four days this weekend, having played Manulla in a catch-up game on Thursday night, where a win would see them pull themselves well clear of the bottom sides in the division. But they will need a big improvement on their performance last weekend where Castlebar Celtic put six past them without reply. The visitors also lost by six goals last time out when Conn Rangers had a 7-1 win against them, which saw them drop into the bottom two in the table. This is a game neither side can afford to lose and home advantage could be key factor in deciding the outcome.
Manulla v Castlebar Celtic
Sunday, July 12 at 2.30pm
Venue: Carramore
This local derby should be a tasty encounter. If Manulla can pick up three points from their game last night they'll go into this clash joint top of the table with Ballina Town on 19 points from eight games. The Carramore based outfit have been one of the surprise packages of the season so far, and they'll be disappointed to have dropped two points against Ballyheane last time out, when they conceded a 92 minute goal to leave the game level at 2-2, after they looked to have the points in the bag. Castlebar Celtic have been pretty indifferent this season, but they'll be brimful of confidence following their 6-0 thrashing of Iorras Aontaihe last weekend. However Manulla's impressive form so far this season, allied with home advantage, should swing the game in their favour.
