Irish Water has lifted a boil water notice for Westport town today which was issued at the start of May after a number of cases of Cryptosporidiosis were reported in the area. A boil water notice had been issued for the whole town, which was partially lifted three weeks ago for the area of the town north of the railway line. But the announcement today will see the notice lifted for the whole town and allow the public in Westport to resume using their mains water supply as normal.Irish Water has said they have carried out modifications and improvements at the treatment plant, as well as on the water supply network adjacent to the plant. Following water quality testing the boil water notice has now been removed with immediate effect.
