Gardaí have launched an investigation following the discovery of a body in Castlebar yesterday.
The woman’s body was discovered in accommodation at Station Road, Castlebar yesterday morning (Thursday ). The scene was sealed off and preserved while gardaí examined it. A spokesperson for the gardaí said that they are keeping an open mind in relation to the investigation and are awaiting the results of a post mortem that will be carried out by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy. The woman is believed to be a UK national.
Gardaí also confirmed that a number of search operations were launched in the northern area of the county by local members of the gardaí in a co-ordinated investigation.
