Love Lannagh, the county’s newest adventure festival, has been deemed a huge success by organisers, after more than 2,000 people attended the event on Saturday April 24, at Lough Lannagh in Castlebar.
Organised by the voluntary group, Love Castlebar, the festival also saw some 100 volunteers and supporters lending a helping hand on the day.
The free event gave festival goers the chance to try out a range of watersports and other activities, such as kayaking, raft racing, paddle boarding, orienteering, canoeing, and treasure hunting.
There was also lots of entertainment and gourmet food on the day.
Helen O’Hara, founder of Love Castlebar, said the organisers were “overwhelmed” by the support for the event from the whole community.
“We are so thankful to all of the local businesses who supported this festival and to all those who gave up their free time to help out,” she said.
“Without the help and generosity from everyone in the community, we simply could not have made this happen. Hopefully, we can turn this into an annual festival and together, we can make Castlebar the best small town in Ireland.”
