Damien Dempsey headlining artisan festival in Castlebar

Damien Dempsey and his full band are headlining Castlebar’s first Artisan Food and Music Festival, which has been announced for the Military Barracks on May 30.

Dempsey joins a host of other great names from the Irish music scene, as well as local talent, who will be rocking two outdoor stages at the Barracks for the one-day family festival.

Dempsey has become a household name on the Irish music scene since his debut album in 2000 set him apart as a unique and important voice.

He has enjoyed continued commercial and critical success since then and his 2007 release, To Hell or Barbados, debuted at number two in the Irish charts.

As well as winning multiple prestigious music awards, Dempsey counts Sinéad O’Connor, Bob Dylan, and U2 among his fans.

The Barracks is set to be transformed for the new festival on May 30, which features a line-up of lively music and a host of foodie attractions, with up to 50 local artisan food, drink, and craft stalls.

Top chefs from the region will also deliver live cooking demonstrations all day.

The festival grounds include a children’s play area with bouncy castles, face painting, and games.

Tickets, priced €25, or €12.50 for under 18s, are on sale now from Downtown Records and entertainment.ie Children under 12 go free.
