Spectacular fireworks show promised for Castlebar tonight

A spokesperson for the famous Birds funfair says it is planning to light up the sky over Castlebar this evening with the most impressive fireworks display ever seen in Mayo.

Birds Euroshow Funfair, Ireland’s largest travelling carnival, is officially opening its 17 day stint at the Military Barracks this evening and has brought the renowned fireworks company, Rocket Pyrotecnics, to town to mark the occasion with a bang.

According to John Magee, marketing manager at Birds, Rocket Pyrotecnics is one of the most experienced fireworks companies in Britain and Ireland.

“The company has been involved in some of the biggest festivals and events in Ireland from the Special Olympics to the St Patrick’s Festival in Dublin and the Rose of Tralee,” said Mr Magee.

“Donal McMahon and his crew have fired displays for many celebrities including Queen Elizabeth II, Richard Branson, Robbie Williams, Westlife, and U2.”

The display is to get under way shortly after nightfall.

Birds Euroshow will run daily at the Military Barracks, Castlebar, from 5pm on weekdays, and 2pm on weekends and on Bank Holiday Monday, until Sunday May 10.

The carnival is coming to town to help raise funds for Castlebar Boxing Club.
