Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town events in Swinford this weekend

Bank of Ireland recently hosted a townhall meeting in Swinford to announce its Enterprise Town initiative in partnership with the local community. The Bank has taken a three-pillar approach to this initiative, whereby the local Branch Manager, Rory Curran will work closely with the business community, the wider sports and social community and the schools in the town. Various planned activities will take place over the weekend of Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, the aim of which is to promote and drive momentum for SMEs in the locality, while showcasing all that the town has to offer.

Over 55 people from the local community attended the townhall event in The Gateway Hotel on last week. A business expo will take place on Friday, April 17 in the Swinford Cultural Centre from 3pm to 7pm and the Sports and Community Expo will take place on Saturday, April 18 in Scoil Muire agus Padraig Swinford from 11am to 2pm. Both events are open to both customers and non-customers of Bank of Ireland.

Commenting on the initiative Rory Curran, Branch Manager, Bank of Ireland, Swinford said: “I am delighted with the turnout for the launch of our Enterprise Town initiative. This is a fantastic opportunity for Swinford to showcase all that it has to offer. Feedback is very positive and everyone is fully supportive of this initiative and are looking forward to the events on April 17 and 18. We already have over 25 registrations for the expos which is a great response from the local community.

Committee member Cathal Kelly said: “Our aim is to help showcase local businesses in unison with the wider community. Everyone is really looking forward to the events which will highlight all the town has to offer”.

In addition to the planned business and community expos, the bank has invited students from local secondary school, Scoil Muire agus Padraig to compete in a competition on all the things good about Swinford. The winner will win a trophy and iPad and will be announced at the business expo.
