Gardaí in Castlebar are this morning investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic ollision that left a man in his 30s dead. The collision happened on the main N5 road at the townland of Knockanour, Castlebar shortly before 7.30pm on Saturday evening.
The driver who was the sole occupant of the car, was seriously injured when his car hit a fence and he was removed to Mayo General Hosptial, but died later on Saturda night as a result of his injuries. The road at the scene was closed off for a tecnhical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions were put in place.
Gardai are asking for any wittnesses to contact them in Castlebar Garda Station on (094 ) 9038200.
