A team of HSE healthworkers from Mayo, who help people suffering from emotional conditions such as borderline personality disorder, have won a national health award for their work.
The Dialectical Behaviour Therapy team won the prestigious Clinical Team of the Year award at the recent Irish Healthcare Awards in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire.
The awards showcase and celebrate achievements in the Irish healthcare sector and promote innovation and excellence in healthcare.
The winning Mayo team provide DBT, a psychological therapy for people who have problems regulating their emotions leading to significant life difficulties, such as emotionally unstable personality disorder (EUPD ), also known as borderline personality disorder (BPD ).
DBT is a combination of cognitive based therapy, mindfulness and acceptance based philosophy and practice.
