Fitness professionals and enthusiasts from all over Mayo are gathering for a major fitness expo this April in Breaffy Sports Arena, which is to feature a workshop with one of Ireland’s greatest sportspeople of all time - Sonia O’Sullivan.
The weekend long expo takes place in Breaffy Sports Arena from April 24, 25 and 26 and aims to raise funds for Western Care Association.
There will be fitness classes, talks and demonstrations throughout the weekend from fitness and sport instructors on a wide range of topics.
Ms O’Sullivan, who was one of the world’s leading female 5,000 metre runners for most of the 1990s and early 2000s, will deliver a workshop on all things running, with tips and advice for runners, sports enthusiasts and anyone who wants to take the opportunity to hear from the Olympic runner.
Ms O’Sullivan will also take part in the Park Run at Lough Lannagh, Castlebar, at 9.30am on Saturday morning, April 25.
The weekend will kick off with a Zumbathon from 7 to 10pm on Friday, April 24.
Saturday and Sunday will provide back-to-back fitness classes and talks demonstrated by instructors from a wide range of sports, including boxercise, yoga, core strength and conditioning, spinning, kite flying, cycling, running, karate, krav maga, pilates, kettle bells and more.
There will be a wide variety of stalls such as physios, nutritionists, local running and cycling clubs and sports apparel and equipment retailers .
The weekend will include food demos and expert talks.
The time table will be announced in the coming fortnight.
