JCI Mayo to host a day of public speaking and debating

Do you quake at the thought of standing up to speak in public? Do you always lose the fight? Fear not. JCI Mayo is hosting JCI Ireland for this year’s spring conference. JCI Mayo openly welcomes past members and senators, and especially members of the public.

The day will be packed full, with public speaking training and debating training in the morning, followed by friendly competitions in the afternoon. With two top class trainers, it is a day not to be missed.

The event will take place tomorrow, Saturday March 21, in the Coast Hotel Westport from 8.45am to 6pm, with optional four course meal at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased at jcimayo.eventbrite.ie

The debating trainer is Mark Kelly, past national JCI president and experienced debater. Mr Kelly runs the IT services company iPing, which he founded in 2005 and is based in Dublin city. Over the years he has studied computers and also business strategy and has a passion for combining these. Mark Kelly has been involved in JCI Dublin and Ireland for more than 10 years now and has held most local and national positions.

He is a JCI prime graduate and has been a trainer for the past three years at the JCI Ireland leadership academy. He also attended JCI European academy and the JCI Japanese academy. Some of the key projects that Mr Kelly has been project leader on in JCI have been JCI Dublin Leading for Growth Summit, JCI Ireland TOYP, JCI Dublin and Ireland Friendly Business Awards (FBA ), and JCI Ireland Fifty Ways to Active Citizenship. He was also part of the JCI Ireland team who won first place at the European debating finals in Braunschweig Germany.

The public speaking trainer is Maire Garvey. Ms Garvey is a past member of JCI Dun Laoghaire, and a valued member of Toastmasters in Westport. Some may know her from ‘Dip in The Nip’, a charity event run nationwide for cancer charities. She is looking forward to catering for all levels of public speaking from the novice to the experienced.
