Bereavement information evening in Castlebar

Anam Cara, the national organisation that provides support services to bereaved parents and families, is hosting a bereavement information evening in the Family Centre, Chapel Street, Castlebar, on Wednesday next (March 25 ) from 8 to 9.30pm.

An experienced bereavement professional will talk on the evening about the many challenges facing families after the loss of a son or daughter.

The event is open to all bereaved parents, regardless of the age of their child or the circumstance of their death.

Dr Helen Greally will speak about coping as a bereaved parent.

Dr Greally is a clinical psychologist and she works as director of psychology and support services at Cancer Care West.

She has given many workshops on the area of coping with major life events throughout the life cycle.

Anam Cara provides a range of support services, including a website, private message forums for parents and adult siblings, professional bereavement talks, and family, social, and remembrance events.

Each group has a lending library and information on the other services available to parents and families in the local community.
