New Chinese medicine clinic opens in Castlebar

A new traditional Chinese medical clinic has just opened at Market Square, Castlebar.

The clinic, Acupuncture & Herbs, is offering a range of traditional Chinese medicine treatment, including acupuncture, massage, reflexology, herbal medicine, and allergy testing.

Herbal medicine prices start at just €8. Using formulas that have been in use for more than 3,000 years, herbal medicine prescribes a combination of herbs to target and treat each individual’s condition or symptoms.

Herbs are cooked and drunk as tea or taken in tablet form.

Acupuncture prices start at €40.

Acupuncture is based on the theory of invisible pathways called ‘channels’ which span the whole body. Flowing through these channels is ‘qi’, the life force energy that underlies everything in the universe.

When these channels are blocked or become deficient, organs are starved of vital qi.

Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners believe stimulating certain points with painless, disposable needles can free blockages and restore the flow of qi to address a whole range of problems relating to the body and mind.

Allergy tests, using a small hair sample, start from €39 while cupping therapy, which is believed to draw out toxins from the body, starts from €20.

The treatments available at Acupuncture & Herbs are based on Chinese medicine that has been in use for 2,500 years.

For more information and a free consultation, visit the clinic at Market Square, Castlebar, or telephone (087 ) 46662526.
