High drama in Castlebar for aerial circus theatre production

A Dublin based aerial circus theatre company is bringing its unique, gravity defying, brand of drama to the Linenhall Arts Centre on Thursday next (March 26 ).

The Locked Room, presented by Ether Productions, centres on two circus performers who awaken in a locked room. They do not know where they are, but they want to get out.

Described as “like Waiting for Godot meets an explosion in a paint factory”, The Locked Room is a mystery, wrapped in a comedy with acrobatics, dancing, balancing, climbing, singing, fighting, a trapeze, and an accidental activation of a bomb.

Ether Productions consists of writer and performer Niamh Creely and Jonathan Walsh, an award-winning burlesque performer and aerialist.

Formed in 2012, the company aims to produce intriguing, exhilarating, and engaging circus theatre.

Irish Theatre Magazine described its work as “sheer ingenuity” and “stunning.”

The Locked Room will be performed at the Linenhall Arts Centre on Thursday March 26 at 8pm.
