Portwest announces appointment of new store manager for Mayo store

Mayo based company Portwest, which employs 20 people across its Mayo and Galway outlet stores, has announced the appointment of a new store manager to its Westport shop. Founded in 1904 and based in Westport since then, the company has become Ireland’s leading outdoor leisure wear, PPE, and work-wear clothing company.

Catherine Mulcahy, originally from Thurles, has been appointed as Portwest’s new store manager. She brings a wealth of knowledge in outdoor recreation and activity, ideal for the leading leisure wear clothing company.

“We’re delighted to welcome Catherine to our team at Portwest and even more delighted to continue growing the numbers of people who work with us from our west of Ireland base. We feel a great sense of responsibility to Mayo and are always thrilled when we add to our employee base. Mayo is a great place to live and work and we are extremely proud that our company is run from here,” said Owen Hughes, managing director of Portwest.

Brothers Cathal, Harry, and Owen Hughes are the current helmsmen of the company which has also welcomed the fourth generation of the Hughes family who have stepped into their apprenticeships with the globally known brand. Portwest employs more than 2,000 staff worldwide and has offices in Ireland, the UK, Poland, Germany, Dubai, China, Bangladesh, and the USA.
