Retired GP and former GAA president, Dr Mick Loftus from Crossmolina, has added his voice to those opposed to a new drinks industry funded alcohol awareness campaign.
Dr Loftus is one of 50 individuals and organisations who signed an open letter expressing their opposition to the Stop Out of Control Drinking campaign, funded by drinks giant Diageo.
The letter says Diageo’s funding of the campaign is a major conflict of interest and an attempt by the drinks industry to obstruct progressive alcohol harm reduction strategies and legislation.
