Driving ban for drunk driver who drove with no lights on

A Claremorris man was banned from driving for three years and fined €550 for drunk driving at Claremorris District Court (sitting in Kiltimagh ) this week.

Cathal Casey, Knock Road, Claremorris, was stopped by Garda John Raftery at 2.50am on May 18 2008 on Dalton Street, Claremorris. Garda Raftery told the court that Casey drove up Dalton Street with no lights on in his car so he pulled him over. He arrested Dalton and brought him to the Garda station where Dalton gave a blood sample which came back with a reading of 179mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. Casey, a 31-year-old painter living in Dublin, pleaded guilty to the charge.
