Colour and craic for biggest Claremorris parade yet

Organisers of this year’s Claremorris St Patrick’s Day Parade say the event looks set to be the most colourful and spectacular one yet.

The main sponsor of the parade this year is St Colman’s Credit Union and the celebration of all things green will officially kick-off at 3pm on Tuesday March 17.

The theme of this year’s parade is ‘Water’ .

The pre-parade street entertainment with Comhaltas Ceoltoir Eireann will start at 1pm.

There ever popular French Markets will also be in town for the day.

Children’s entertainment includes bouncy castles, slides and face painting, while Mono Events will also be providing some extra kids entertainment.

There are a large number of floats participating in this year’s parade and there is €350 in prize money up for grabs for the best entries.

There is also a trophy for the best window display.

Musical entertainment during the parade includes the 39-piece Ramelton Town Band from Donegal, who are the current All Ireland Fleadh champions.

The Duggan School of Dancers are also participating on day as are a number of dancers from the MaSamba School Band.
