Main Street property in Ballyhaunis sells at auction

There was considerable interest in a Main Street property in Ballyhaunis at the first Connacht Property Auction of the year.

The Upper Main Street building attracted 12 bids at the auction and sold for €56,000, exceeding the reserve price.

The auction was held on February 26 in the Menlo Park Hotel, Galway.

Of the 24 properties on offer via the auction company there were 21 properties successfully sold, giving an 88 per cent success rate. The auction team is now taking entries for their upcoming auctions, which are taking place on April 23 and June 25.

The Connacht Property Auction is the only auction company in Ireland which does not charge upfront costs or marketing charges to enter a property into the auctions.

There was competitive bidding on the night with many properties well exceeding their reserve price.

One of the properties of interest was Upper Main Street, Ballyhaunis, sold in partnership with John Higgins auctioneers, Ballyhaunis. There were several bidders on the property with 12 bids received on the night.

The bidding finished at €56,000, which was in excess of the reserve price and the property was successfully sold.

“There were a number of parties interested in the property and the price exceeded the expected price of the property,” said Patrick Folan from The Connacht Property Auction. “The property represented value for money to the bidders involved and the owner was delighted with the end result.”

Another sale on the night was Coolylaughnan, Hollymount, sold in partnership with Emma Gill auctioneers, Ballinrobe.

The four bedroom dormer bungalow is located in a scenic area of Mayo and comes with five acres of land. There were a number of bids received on the property and the successful bidder secured the property at €132,000.

In Castlebar, No 11, St Bridget’s Terrace, was successfully sold prior to auction via the online auction for €80,000 in partnership with DNG Burke Connolly Maloney, Castlebar.

Lot 22 of the auction was Holywell, Ballyhaunis, brought to the market in partnership with John Higgins auctioneers, Ballyhaunis. Bidding came in quickly on the property with the hammer eventually falling at €132,000.

The Connacht Property Auction is now welcoming entries for its 45 day online auctions and its next public auction, taking place on April 23.
