Mayo Stages Rally moves closer into view

Excitement is starting to build, as the Mayo and District Motorsport club has announced that the Mayo Stages Rally will take place on Sunday, March 8 in various locations around North Mayo.

It is a mixture of old and new for 2015 as, for the third year in succession, the Mayo Stages Rally will be based in Ballina. However competitors will face the challenge of three entirely new stages, each to run three times. Offering a total distance of approximately 116 stage kilometres and 127 road kilometres, they look set to provide a challenging test for competitors. The club is delighted to welcome on board again Hotel Ballina and Kennedy Motors as joint main sponsors of the 2015 Mayo Stages Rally, and thank them for their support.

Hotel Ballina is once again Rally headquarters for the weekend. Just off the N26, but close to the town centre and with scrutiny, trailer park and Parc ferme adjacent to the hotel, it has proved to be a popular location with competitors and visitors to the rally in the past two years.

The line-up of the event has been officially released and what an exciting one it is. After a rally show in Ballina town centre on Saturday, March 7, the main event begins on Sunday morning when the cars leave parc-ferme. Kicking off at 7pm on the Saturday, extreme stunt man Mattie Griffin will woo the crowd with his impressive repertoire of tricks and stunts. You will certainly not want to miss out on this impressive display, so get down to the market square Ballina, where there will be entertainment and craic a plenty.

Following this will be a impressive static display of 20 vintage cars at 7.20pm, and just after 8pm, the top 25 rally cars will make their grand entrance into the Market Square. Mattie Griffith will be among the entertainment once more, as the grand departure is set to take place at around 8.45pm.
