Spring leagues swing back into action

Ballina

Cian Butler was the winner of the recent 15 hole club competition with a score of 28pts, he finished one point in front of second placed Shay Mulchrone. The Spring League will swing into action this Sunday, February 15. The league will be played this Sunday and on February 22, March 1, and March 8.

Ballinrobe

The seventh round of the Winter Alliance saw Michael Joyce coming out on top in category one, Michael G Burke was the category two winner, and Pat McDonald took the category three win. The fifth round of the Harry Walsh league was won by the team of Declan Flaherty, Tom Conlisk, Frank Burke, and John Hudson.

The ladies Winter Alliance was won by Joanne Hynes with a score of 38pts, while the Winter League winners was the team of Sheila Molloy, Joanne Hynes, Triona Kelly, and Geraldine Kavanagh.

Castlebar

Martina Kelly was the runaway winner of the ladies’ singles competition with a score of 28pts with Dolores Towey in second place with a score of 23pts. In the Spring League, Carmel Connaughton’s team continue to lead the way, and round seven of the men’s winter league will take place this weekend. In a fortnight’s time there will be an open weekend in memory of one of the club’s favourite members Padraig Hurst who sadly is no longer with us.

Claremorris

Gerry Kilkenny won round two of the Spring League, with Joe Leonard finishing in second place and John Donnellan came home in third place. The ladies’ competition was won by Riana Kean.

Mulranny

There was a big turnout for last weekend’s open competition with Peter Hopkins taking first place with a score of 39pts. Paul Gavin came home in second spot, just one point behind, with Paddy Chambers finishing in third place. Both Hopkins and Chambers have now qualified for the grand final of the open competition and will join the already qualified Gavin on Saturday April 11 in the final.

Swinford

In round two of the Winter League, Declan Munnelly and Ron Howard took the win with a score of 23pts, Gerry Ronayne and Padraig Granhan finished in second place, with Jim Biesty and Eamon Ring coming home in third place.

In the ladies’ competition Bernie Walsh was the winner of the nine hole stableford competition with a score of 20pts, with Mary Flanagan coming home in second place one point further back.
