Mary Sammon and Frances Burke, who are two experienced midwives, breast-feeding specialists and proud mothers themselves, are offering pregnant women and their families information on pregnancy, labour and life after delivery in a new class called New Beginnings.
After setting up an ante-natal education service in Mayo General Hospital in 2000 they noticed how busy it became and noticed the growing need for an out of hours education and breast-feeding support service to fit in with a family’s busy working lifestyle. Because of this demand the women are launching their new private venture to cater for expectant mums and birthing partners. The women have developed classes that will cover looking after yourself for nine months; recognising labour; breathing techniques; pain relief options and lots more, with course material provided.
Their first class is on Saturday February 28 in Hotel Westport and both Frances and Mary are very excited about providing a new service to cater for the needs of clients where they want extra support in the community.
