Run for Fun in Castlebar
If you're looking for an event to kick-start a healthy new-year, the West of Ireland Fun Run is one to remember. Taking place on Saturday January 31 in Castlebar, the 10km fun run is the perfect opportunity to get active, get fit, and have fun.
Organised by Lynch Hotels in association with RunIreland.com, the event will take place in the grounds of the Breaffy House Hotel. Offering stunning woodland views, the course can be enjoyed in rain or shine. “The race is not based on performance,” says event director Sebastian Locteau, “we want people to have fun and do the best they can and encourage each other.” For those who are looking for some competitive motivation, prize medals will be presented on the day for categories ranging from junior athletes to senior participants. All entrants will receive a Fun Run t-shirt and will enjoy food and refreshments following the race. For just €20, interested parties can register for the Fun Run online at www.runireland.com, where they will also find details of accommodation and further race information.
Soccer - Girls Connacht Gaynor Cup Trials
Further assessments will be held for this year’s Gaynor Cup in Milebush Park, Castlebar, on Saturday January 24. Players must bring boots (no steel cogs ), shinpads, and their own water. The times are listed below and if there are any queries please contact Moyia Parke at 086 8583363 or your local development officer. U13( born 1996/1997 ): 10.30am to 12.30pm; u15 (born 1994/1995 ): 12.30pm to 2pm; u17 (born 1992/1993 ): 2pm to 3.30pm. Players are asked to be there at least 15 minutes before they are due to start.
