Castlebar Tennis Club is starting a new programme for adult beginner tennis players on Tuesday January 27 at 7.30pm. The course will run for six weeks and is designed for people who are completely new to tennis or who have not played in a long time. The course will cover the basics of tennis and will be organised by the new club captains for 2015, Thérèse Ruane and Jason Guthrie.
In advance of the six-week course, an open night will be held on Friday January 23 from 8pm to 10pm in Castlebar Tennis Club to provide information to anyone interested in joining the club or finding out more about the club’s new facilities.
Thérèse Ruane was very enthusiastic about her first official role as new Ladies’ Captain with the club. “This is a great year to be captain in Castlebar Tennis Club. Since the construction of the dome covering four of our tennis courts, we are now able to ensure that tennis can be played all-year round – no matter what the weather! Our facilities are state-of-the-art and I really look forward to welcoming new members to the club. The six week course is a great way for anyone interested in starting tennis to get a flavour for the sport and our club amenities!”
Thérèse’s counterpart, Jason Guthrie, was equally excited about the upcoming year in Castlebar Tennis Club. “We have a great year planned for 2015 for our existing members and anyone who would like to join the club. We will be starting our competition season at the beginning of February with the club championships. Additionally, we will be running some light-hearted fun evenings of tennis in our new dome. It’s great to be able to ensure that we can play tennis all year round!”
