Enjoy a blast of classical music in Ballina

For a blast of live music to brighten up the New Year, the WhistleBlast Quartet is hosting a free family concert at Ballina Arts Centre on Thursday next (January 15 ) at 6.30pm.

Suitable for all ages, Ken Edge on saxophones and clarinet, Mary Curran on French horn, Síle Daly on the oboe and cor anglais, and Conor Linehan on piano, will perform a diverse programme of music.

Priding itself on making live classical music accessible to all, the quartet’s performance will include music from many of the greatest composers of all time, including Gershwin, Stravinsky, and Offenback.

To round off the concert in style, children from the local Scoil Íosa, who have been working with the WhistleBlast Quartet, will perform a short piece of their own composition.

The WhistleBlast Quartet is funded by The Arts Council, the National Concert Hall Education Programme, Mayo County Council, and Blackshell Farm Limited, while participating schools also contribute towards the programme cost.
