Rail passengers on the Mayo to Dublin line grew for the third year in a row in 2014.
Iarnród Éireann reported this week that passenger journeys on rail services to and from Mayo grew by two per cent last year.
Nationally Iarnród Éireann recorded almost one million extra passenger journeys overall.
The company said passenger journeys stablised in 2013 after a number of years of decline.
“The growth is a welcome indicator both for Iarnród Éireann and the wider economy,” said a company spokesperson.
The Dublin to Westport/Ballina line recorded 471,000 passenger journeys in 2014 - up from 424,000 in 2011.
