Young comic creators exhibit work in Linenhall

A talented group of young comic creators in Castlebar has launched an exhibition of its graphic art in the foyer of the Linenhall Arts Centre.

Kawii Comics is the result of the artists’ work with Maeve Clancy, exploring graphic reportage and the use of comic form as a mode of expression in non-fiction contexts. The exhibition of large-scale comic strips is the outcome of a three month project which saw the group explore the work of a selection of organisations, groups and activities available to young people in Mayo, and report on it in comic format.

The exhibition features the work of Melissa Duffy, Anna Dreimane, Jane Faull, Chloe Hawe, Emily Nolan and Rebekah Ryan, and runs until January 31.

The Linenhall gallery and foyer is open to the public Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and on Saturdays from 11am to 5.30pm. Admission to the exhibition is free.

The Linenhall Arts Centre is closed for Christmas from Wednesday, December 24, to Sunday, December 28 inclusive.

It reopens on Monday and Tuesday, December 29 and 30, and is closed on Wednesday and Thursday, December 31 and January 1.
