Mayo student’s work makes cover of Texaco calendar

An acclaimed work by a talented 16-year-old artist from Mount St Michael Secondary School, Claremorris, is to be the front cover of the 2015 Texaco Children’s Art Calendar.

Entitled ‘Coleman’, the incredibly detailed, life-like, portrait by Shania McDonagh has impressed art lovers both in Ireland and internationally since it won first place in the Texaco art competition last May.

The portrait was described by one of the competition adjudicators as a work that “has established her as one of the most talented artists of her generation, and one whose skill could see her become one of Ireland’s foremost portrait artists of the future”.

It has since been on exhibition in various locations throughout the country and overseas.

Shania McDonagh’s work is now to reach an even wider audience as the Texaco calendars are available through a select number of Texaco service stations countrywide and through Texoil, its home-heating division.
